Hallett is lucky to have a number of artists as well as the Old School Gallery with artworks and installations by Felicity Martin and well known South Australian artists including Donald Richardson, Pamela Kouwenhoven, Sue Hatch, Mary Clock Clark & Bernadette Van Eyk plus local sculpture Allen Peters and quilter Joy O'Brien.
The Burra/Hallett area is an artistic hub. Many artists live in the area and there are several galleries in Burra that hold regular exhibitions.

Culture
How often do you see a traditional old fashioned vaudeville troupe?
Amazingly there's one in the district - the renowned Whyte Yarcowie Vaudeville Troup (also known as the Judy Lewis Review) - which performs in Hallett each year.
Basket supper, BYO and sing along, it's a night to remember.

Aboriginal connections
The Ngadjuri nation were custodians of the Hallett area, which was an important trading centre on the North-South routes. Older trees still show scars, and the petroglyphs at Mt Ketchowla are well worth a visit.
We worked with Ngadjuri elder Pat Waria-Read to design a new picnic shelter at the Hallett Tourism Precinct to reflect the Aboriginal and Settler history of our district.
