Heysen Trail
The Heysen Trial is one of the longest walking trails in Australia, linking Cape Jervis at the tip of the Fleurieu Peninsula to Parachilna in the Flinders Ranges. The Hallett section of the Heysen Trail includes overnight camping at the old Hallett Railway Station, a leisurely walk along Toolangi Road, a steady climb to the summit of Mt Bryan (the tallest mountain in the Mt Lofty Ranges) and magnificent panoramic views.
Plenty of camping at the Hallett Rec Grounds, with hot showers and fire pits.
Friends of the Heysen Trail, and local walkers, organise regular walks around the Hallett area, including access to some areas not open to the public - many thanks for the photos.

Mawson Trail
The Mawson Trail, designed for mountain bikes, extends from Adelaide to Hawker in the Flinders Ranges. The section from Burra to Spalding loops past Mt Bryan, offering steep rugged terrain (and great views) as well as more peaceful cycling.
The Outback Odyssey came to Hallett on 16th May 2013 as part of its 800k ride from Adelaide to Blinman in the Flinders Ranges. We hosted 150 riders and their support crew at the Rec Ground, and the Terowie Citizens Association provided the catering. They gathered for dinner and breakfast at the beautiful Hallett Hall where the warmth (temperature and conviviality) was appreciated by all.
We host the Odyssey every two years, and often organise locations, accommodation and catering for orienteering and rogaining groups who want to experience this wonderful country.
